Pay Online: The City of Colton website offers an online service for account management and bill payments. With this service you can check electronic versions of your bills, see when your next payment is due and make transfers from your checking/savings account. Pay in Person: There are a number of locations where you can drop off your payment. This includes Larsons Pharmacy (142 W. H Street, Colton CA, 92324), City of Colton Gonzales Center (payment kiosk) and City Hall (payment kiosk, utility billing services desk, night drop box).

Pay by Mail: Your monthly bill comes with a return envelope. Send your payment in this envelope. You can pay your bill by mail using an ATM card or credit card (Visa, MasterCard). Complete the card payment authorization form on the back of your bill payment stub. Please include your Colton Public Utilities account number on your check. Your account number is located on your statement. To ensure your Colton Public Utilities payment is received on time it is recommended that you mail your payment at least 5 business days prior to the due date shown on your monthly billing statement.

Start, Stop, Transfer Service

To start, stop or transfer your utility service, call customer services (see below). Unless your credit score exceeds the minimum required by the utility, Colton Public Utilities will charge a deposit for new services. This deposit is 2.5 times the average estimated monthly bill. There is a $10 connection fee for electric services and an $11 connection fee for water services. These will be charged on your first bill.

Payment Assistance and Rebates

The City of Colton offers a range of programs to help qualifying customers afford their water and electricity bills:

  • Low Income Assistance: Qualifying customers can gain a yearly fiscal credit towards their electric charge up to $150. You can apply with the online application and send it to: City of Colton Electric Utility, Low Income Program, 650 N. La Cadena Drive, Colton, CA 92324.
  • Medical Baseline Billing: Customers who use electricity for medical reasons may qualify for extra electricity coverage. Proof of medical need is required.

Rebate schemes are provided for customers who use energy efficiency appliances and materials. There is also a Residential Photovoltaic Rebate Program.

Pay Online: All customers with DirecTV can register for an online account and this online account allows you to make payments. Payments can be made from your checking account or from a debit card or credit card. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted. Make an Urgent Payment

If you need to make a payment in a rush, DirecTV offers an expedited telephone payment service. Call the number provided above. There are two options you can choose:

–           The first option is to pay with the automated service, and here the payment will post within one hour.

–          The second option is to make a payment with the help of a phone representative, and here your payment will post immediately. Note that the second option comes with a $5 phone-assistance fee.

Set up Automatic Payments

There are a number of third-part payment processors partnered with DirecTV. You can pay by cash at any MoneyGram or Western Union office using your account number:

–          To use Money Gram Express, use “DIRECTV” and “1602” for the city code

–          To use Western Union Quick Collect, use “DIRECTVUT” for the city code

You can also pay by cash at PayExchange and PreCash. Payments made with either of these services will be posted to your account within two business days.
