Banana Republic

This retail chain began with tropical as the main theme, though it has gone through many changes since the 70’s, with Gap acquiring the company in 1983. Today the store is a mainstream luxury clothing store, and while not as quirky as it used to be, it is considered to be the upmarket version of Gap.

Banana Republic Credit Cards

Banana Republic offer two credit cards – a store credit card that can only be used at the store, and a Visa credit card. Both cards are similar, but the Visa card gives you the chance to earn a modest amount of points by spending elsewhere. The primary reward scheme is a points scheme which provides you with 5 points for every dollar you spend at GAP owned stores. Once you reach 1000 points (equally a spend of $200), you will receive a $10 certificate which you spend on almost anything. For the Visa credit card, you get an additional point for every dollar you spend anywhere else that accepts Visa. You also get 15% off your first purchase made with the card.

Both cards also come with advanced sale notice, special birthday offers, Tuesday deals (10% off) at Gap, Old Navy and Piperlime, and other exclusives. If you manage to spend over $800 in a year, then you get an upgrade to Luxe, which gives you everything you had before plus free shipping for all purchases made online, choose your own sale days (15% off), free alterations and further rewards.

Terms and Conditions

The standard store credit card comes with an APR of 24.99% variable. The Visa credit card has a purchase and balance transfer APR of 23.99% variable, and cash advance APR of 25.99%. Late payment fee up to $35. The grace period for paying no interest is 23 days. Complete terms and conditions for both cards can be found on their website.
